We visit Natasha Green, to chat about her work, style, and love of all things musical. Inspired by her parent's strong work ethic, Natasha has worked her way up to Head of Client Services for Diligent, an award winning Fashion Ecomm Company, based in London.  We love her relaxed attitude towards success and life in general, balancing hard work with nature walks, face timing with family and belting out show tunes.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and your career so far – how did you become Head of Client Services?
A lot of people will say that fashion has played a big role in their lives, and I'm one of them. When I was studying History, consumerism and many other 'isms' got me hooked even further into the fashion umbrella. I wasn't sure how to mix my History degree into my interest and make a career out of it, so I went down the 'transferable skills' route and applied myself to newer career paths like e-commerce, online communications, digital marketing (SEO, social media, blogging, influencer marketing etc.). I even started my own lifestyle blog (now deceased!), which at one point was doing just over 2,000 unique visitors a week. I landed a few internships to get more experience and stayed with the first e-commerce agency that hired me for three years working in their digital marketing team. My career took a turn when I moved from that to the e-commerce team and from there my role has evolved into what it is now. Plus, I've been client facing most weekends since I was a toddler, so this coupled with an inspirational team has naturally led me to the role I'm in now.

What has been the most memorable moment of your career, to date?
Going to London Fashion Week for the first time. I'd only known my client for two weeks and she snuck me in; I had the best time. Whilst we don't work together anymore, we're still friends, I'm going to her engagement party this weekend.
Describe a time early in your career where you felt you could say, ‘I made it’.
For me, starting my role at Diligent was a really positive shift in my life, in and outside of work; that was a great time in itself. Every website I launch with my team, that's an awesome moment, but I'm not personally sure if the 'I made it' thing is a thing. I'm more of a 'life is a string of moments that allow you to grow' as a person.
Where has and does your inspiration come from?
My parents. Cheesy I know. My Dad doesn't have an A-level to his name and he worked his way to the top in a company he'd been with since he was a teenager. My Mum did college and university education with my sister and I in tow, plus running our house, cooking for us and entertaining my Dad's clients when they came over on weekends; she then landed her dream role at a specialist needs education centre. Learning from their example and seeing how driven and focused they were has always inspired me.

Do you have any fun projects coming up?
Absolutely do! I'm focusing more on new business development these days and being part of an ever-changing industry means we have a constant churn of new and exciting projects coming in. I've got a website for a premium London butcher going live in a few weeks time, it's an interesting project because it's very different to anything else out there in their industry segment.
If you weren't in your current career, what would your Plan B job be?
I have three plan B’s! MAC makeup artist, hairdresser (colour specialist) or singing on Broadway.

How do you relax in your spare time?
I'll go for a walk in woodland. As free from people as you can get is my ideal relaxation space and if there's no road noise, that's a big bonus. I find that I'm able to reconnect with myself when I'm at one with nature and alone. I also like to sing. Alternatively, I'll FaceTime my sister Hannah.
What other interests do you have?
I love a good long walk and I really want to get into National Trail walking! I feel like that's the next level up before doing something more challenging like a mountain walk. I also like Pilates, aerial hoop, the occasional yoga session and I love musicals. Over the last year, I've been lucky enough to see musicals I've been waiting 20 years or so to watch live, including Dreamgirls and Sunset Boulevard.

How do you maintain a work/life balance?
I think that's a tough question to answer when you're passionate about what you do. A key part of a growing business is someone who takes real pride in their role. I try to set the rule of no emails on weekends but I will check for anything relatively urgent in the morning and once in the afternoon.
How would you describe your personal style?
Sporadic. My style is dependent on how I feel that day, from casual basics all the way up to glam with gothic/punk/grunge elements.

Most treasured/favourite item in your wardrobe?
There are a few but my Birkin handbag is in the top three.
Name 5 essential pieces of clothing for this winter/summer?
Suit, slip dress, turtleneck jumper/t-shirt, crisp white shirt (I love all the experimental shirt styles coming out right now!), loafers. If you can fit ruffles, ribbed materials, lace, gingham and pinstripes in here too then you're ready to go!

What items do you feel are worth splurging on?
Shoes, handbags, tailoring and jewelry/watches. Oh, and decent makeup.
What’s the best style advice you’ve received?
Be yourself. My friend Alice told me that a few years ago when we were still at Uni and whilst it's not necessarily style advice, I think it's pertinent to any situation. I'm pretty sure other people have said it to me before, but when Alice said it, it stuck with me.

Genuine Roman pottery piece at Mount Vesuvius with my sister Hannah. There's a photo of it somewhere at my parent's house.
Miranda Priestly (Devil Wears Prada)
Fridge magnets, one for every place abroad I've visited. I get them for me, my parents and my Nana Rose.
Pink Shed pop-up in Leeds. It was on a Sunday and I felt horrendous the next day but it was such a fun evening. It was literally a decorated pink shed in the middle of the new Trinity shopping mall in Leeds, it was being run by the chefs at Salvos (beautiful Italian food) who really looked after my friends and I. A very memorable (in places) evening.
David Bowie, Live in Santa Monica 1972
The rings I got for my 18th birthday which all of my family contributed to. We all went to the jeweler’s together and went for birthday lunch back at ours afterwards. Every time I look at my right hand, I think of my family.
